LAPS:

General Notes

  • Cat Cottage is apparently being painted next weekend, which means all of its residents will have to be moved out temporarily.

Haze:

  • Haze is doing a bit better this morning: using the litter box, grooming himself, bit perkier/livelier. Kayla gave him Panacur (a dewormer) last night and will give it to him for three days — he pooped out a lot of roundworms last night and this morning so it’s doing its job, and maybe that’s partly why he seems to be feeling a bit better. (She’s also treating Jasper for worms since he and Haze are hanging out so much.)
  • He’s still showing no interest in eating on his own, except to occasionally try to nurse off one of Kayla’s other pets.
  • He’ll stay with Kayla until he’s feeling better (i.e. she’s fostering him). He doesn’t like to be alone and adores Jasper. He also gets along well with Kayla’s other cats. She posted a cute video this morning of Blitzen baffing Haze.

Casper, Hoot, and Pumpkin

  • Three kittens were brought in with pretty severe ringworm. The woman who brought them in had been trying to treat them herself but was losing the battle — she’d called to see if LAPS had any advice or help, and they offered to take the kittens on. All of the kittens are between 3 and 3.5 lbs, which would put them at 10 to 12 weeks of age, I believe.

(The video can also be viewed on LAPS’ A Day in the Life at LAPS Livestream.)

    • Kitten #1, named Casper, is a black and white boy with the worst ringworm of the three: he has a large lesion on his face and smaller ones on top of his head and on his left ear. He’s 1.57 kg.

    • Kitten #2, named Hoot, is a black boy with a small white locket on his chest. He’s 1.39 kg. He has only one small lesion that Lneya could find.

    • Kitten #3, named Pumpkin, is another black boy, with a couple of white toes on his hind feet. He’s 1.6 kg.

Lock, Shock, and Barrel

  • Three new kittens were brought in. They were given the names Lock, Shock, and Barrel (after the characters in The Nightmare Before Christmas). They showed up on a farm in Langley, the farm owner thinks about five weeks ago, though he hasn’t seen a mama cat. Lneya thinks they’re about eight weeks old. The farm owner says there is another five-month-old kitten out there that he’s going to bring in.
  • They’re pretty social — they put up with nail clipping and butt spears with little fuss and were scared but cuddleable.

(The video can also be viewed on LAPS’ A Day in the Life at LAPS Livestream.)

    • Kitten #1, named Shock, is a very floofy tuxie girl whose “black” is very much like Topper’s (a mix of grey and black and brown), with a faint white stripe on her nose. She’s not dehydrated, though she has a bit of dandruff. *Amy said she was 2.29 kg but either she meant 2.29 lbs or these kittens are not eight weeks old. (An eight-week-old kitten would typically be about 1 kilogram or 2.2. pounds. 2+ kgs would be closer to five months old, not two months old.)*

    • Kitten #2, named Barrel, is a tuxie boy with a prominent white stripe on his nose. He has some nose crusties but is otherwise pretty good. Amy said he was 2.77 in whatever unit the scale was set to — see my *note above about Shock.

    • Kitten #3, named Lock, is another tuxie boy with a prominent white stripe on his nose but with a half pink, half black nose. Amy could only feel one testicle. She said he was 2.85 in whatever unit the scale was set to — see my *note above about Shock.

  • They were given Revolution and vaccinations and will be heading to Cat Cottage.

Geller

  • Geller (the underweight little kitten who was brought in on September 14) will be neutered this coming Friday and will then be available for adoption.

CallaLily Litter

  • Alicia had her daily Periscope session with Calla Lily and the kittens. Everyone was particularly cute and scampy tonight.

TinyKittens HQ:

  • Kimsies made Tip a little living room to hang out in at TKHQ.

People for Happier Cats/TNR site:

  • Mr. T (aka Torelius) and Pinecone were scheduled to be brought in to TKHQ today. However, Mr. T kept giving them the slip today so they were unable to trap him. (Which is pretty funny when you consider how some days they can’t keep him out of their cars or off their laps.) Kimsies will try again tomorrow.
