Star Wars Litter

LAPS staff and volunteers have been very good about posting the videos of the various visits with Queen Amidala and the kittens to their Livestream page, so if you miss any visit, you can go to http://livestream.com/accounts/14083503/starwars to watch them. (Note: It’s not always easy to tell what day a video is from — Livestream uses relative time, i.e. “xx days ago”, for posts and Zulu Time, which is currently eight hours ahead of PST, for comments — but they are in reverse chronological order on the page.)

Christmas Decoration Kittens

Alicia tries to broadcast a Periscope with the kittens every night at around 20:00 PST. Because Periscope videos are only viewable on/in Periscope for 24 hours, I record the videos and upload them to YouTube.

• Alicia had her nightly Periscope with the two remaining Christmas Decoration kittens, Ribbon and Star. Ribbon is scheduled to have her spay surgery on Wednesday of this week and will be going to her new forever home on Thursday. Star hasn’t quite made the weight yet so she will be hanging out with Alicia for another week — her spay surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday and she’ll be ready to head out to her new human, Katie, next Thursday.

Note: Satine and Shiloh are currently only viewable on the TinyKittens VIP cam, which you can access for a monthly or annual fee.

• The Visits:
  • Amanada visited. Both girls were firmly ensconced on the ledge bed so it was a pretty short visit. She pretty much just said hi, gave some pets in situ, and tidied up a bit.
  • Kimsies visited as well. Her visit was likewise pretty short for the same reasons — the girls are still acclimating (hopefully) so, like Amanda, Kimsies said hi, gave some pets in situ, and tidied up a bit.
  • Shelly visited later on. She had no qualms about plucking Satine off the ledge for a little lap cuddle time and some overdue ear cleaning.
    
  • Lorie visited later in the afternoon. Both girls were at ground level, Shiloh in the crate and Satine behind it, but neither seemed to interested in this whole socialization scheme these humans keep attempting. Even tuna did nothing, though Lorie left it out for later.
    

Holly’s Singles Pad

• During their visits with Holly, Gwen and Amanda decided that Holly (who was being particularly hissy and growly at the other cats) would be happier in the other room. So Holly is currently enjoying the single gal life in the upstairs room that Mary recently vacated. Everyone, Holly included, seems much happier with these arrangements though Holly says she’d really love a full-time human of her own to hang out with.
• For part of today at least, Shelly was able to switch the regular cam feed between the two rooms as the snugglers moved around. I imagine she’ll keep doing that as and when she can, but it’s not an automatic process.
• Holly’s visitors today in her new digs:
  • Shelly visited while Gwen was still upstairs and just after Amanda went downstairs to try to visit with Satine and Shiloh. (That’s when Shelly moved the extra camera from the mega romper room to Holly’s room so she could switch the feed around at will.)
    After she left Holly, Shelly stopped into the romper room and discovered that Elf and Noelle had accidentally gotten shut in the litter box alcove (aka closet) because the door stop had failed. So she moved a scratching post over to prop the door open better. (That’s at the tail end of the video embedded below.)
    
  • Kimsies visited. Playtime, snacks, an attempt to get Holly interested in painting. And some woe from Holly after Kimsies left to visit the others. (Note: The cam reset a couple of minutes into the visit so the video embedded below starts a couple of minutes in. I’ve also embedded the video of Holly’s woe after that.)
    
    
  • I presume Lorie stopped in to visit, but it wasn’t on cam at all.

Formerly-Feral Mega Romper Room

• Holly started out the day in with everyone else, but was later moved to her own room, this time without Joy. (Joy really seems to enjoy being in with the other kittens, and Holly generally seems just as happy by herself.)
• The Visits:
  • Gwen visited in the morning. Note: The kittens had taken out the floor cam again, unbeknownst to Gwen, so most of her visit (and Amanda’s) is off-cam and thus primarily audio only over video of whoever was in the cat tree penthouse at the time. (Personally, I love listening to Gwen and Amanda talk to and about the kittens and cats they’re visiting, especially when they’re there together. They’re a great double act.) She brought a clicker with her to start clicker training Jingles. Finding the perfect reward treat for Jingle was difficult and she had to settle on tuna or wet food, neither of which was perfect. Holly thought she’d get in on that tuna action for awhile and so was also introduced to the clicker training and Nicholas proved to be the most promising candidate. Everyone else pretty much ignored the clicker.
    
  • Amanda arrived while Gwen was finishing up the clicker training and together they cleaned the room and litter boxes and put out fresh water and food.
    The video embedded above covers the combined visit, with a little extra “Nicholas trying to get down from penthouse” cuteness at the beginning and a little “Noelle wonders where the red dot went” cuteness at the end.
  • Shelly arrived shortly after their visits ended and plugged the floor camera back in.
  • Kimsies visited
    
  • Lorie visited.
  • Shelly visited briefly in the early evening, primarily to take some pictures.
