Star Wars Litter

LAPS staff and volunteers have been very good about posting the videos of the various visits with Queen Amidala and the kittens to their Livestream page, so if you miss any visit, you can go to http://livestream.com/accounts/14083503/starwars to watch them. (Note: It’s not always easy to tell what day a video is from — Livestream uses relative time, i.e. “xx days ago”, for posts and Zulu Time, which is currently eight hours ahead of PST, for comments — but they are in reverse chronological order on the page.)

Christmas Decoration Kittens

Alicia tries to broadcast a Periscope with the kittens every night at around 20:00 PST. Because Periscope videos are only viewable on/in Periscope for 24 hours, I record the videos and upload them to YouTube.

  • Alicia had her nightly Periscope session with the kittens. Glimmer weighs 666 grams (up from 640), Star weighs 420 grams (up from 377), Ribbon weighs 577 grams (up from 532), Tinsel weighs 683 grams (up from 644) and Bow weighs 769 grams (up from 724).

  • Shiraz’s tail was amputated today. When she was shaved for her spay surgery, they found she’d already been spayed, so they just tattooed her ear and she was done. Jules says she’s doing great.

  • Jules had a short Periscope with Shiraz tonight, showing off her lovely new bobtail and opening a present from Mr. Pawsome.

Mr. Sandberg

  • Mr. Sandberg arrived at LAPS today and was immediately sent to Mountain View because of his injuries — he has a nasty abdominal wound — though normally LAPS would have a 72-hour hold on any supposed stray cat brought in.

Winter Kittens

  • Foster mom Janet posted a very cute picture of Snowflake and Jack Frost.

“A Christmas Story” Kittens

  • ❤️❤️❤️ During her visit with the Star Wars litter, Jayne mentioned that Farkus, who was so sick by yesterday, did not make it. His brother Ralphie is hanging in there and doing better and is still at Mountain View. (This is an unfortunate fact of life for feral kittens — URIs, fleas, ringworm, intestinal worms, starvation, etc., all take their toll and many don’t survive. Thankfully Ralphie still has a chance to overcome this.) ❤️❤️❤️

TinyKittens HQ:

  • Shelly continued her physiotherapy work with Cassidy.

People for Happier Cats/TNR site:

General Notes

  • Several weeks ago, Earth Options had a special sale of their pet stockings, where a percentage of the proceeds would be donated to TinyKittens/People for Happier Cats (and you could choose to buy a stocking or two for the ferals, if you wanted). Today, they delivered the stockings and gifts purchased for the ferals to TinyKittens, and they posted several pictures of the loot.

Feral Colony

  • Shelly was on feeding station duty today. She saw the usual suspects there, including Sloane, Renara, Teller, Mr. Barclay, and others.

Holly, Comet, Mistletoe, and Joy

  • Suzanne visited this morning. (The cam reset before I could watch it, though.)
  • Shelly visited in the early evening. (The cam reset while I was watching that visit so I missed the tail end of it. Such is life when you’re watching the DVR. 😉 )
  • Shelly said she’d be back in the late evening, but I think she changed her mind.

Ringworm Romper Room with Jingle, Elf, Nicholas, and Noelle

  • No updates yet today
