LAPS:

Feral Colony Cats

ferals currently being socialized at/through LAPS as of 2016-01-29 - Tellar, Eaton, and Rio

Note: Tellar is temporarily residing with Foster Mom Jules so that he can get used to being in a home environment. Eaton and Rio are still together at the shelter.

Tellar

  • No updates today.

Rio and Eaton

  • Kayla had a Periscope session with Rio and Eaton at the shelter this afternoon. They are much better today than they were yesterday, so they seem to have gotten over their upset at the room cleaning yesterday. Eaton has some kind of wound or sore on his neck under his jaw.

Star Wars Litter

LAPS staff and volunteers have been easing up on posting videos of the kittens as we head towards adoption day, but you can go to http://livestream.com/accounts/14083503/starwars to watch the Livestream of this litter live. (Note: It’s not always easy to tell what day a video is from — Livestream uses relative time, i.e. “xx days ago”, for posts and Zulu Time, which is currently eight hours ahead of PST, for comments — but they are in reverse chronological order on the page.)

  • There were no saved/posted videos at all today.

Spice

  • Formerly feral Spice, who was brought in from the feral colony in poor shape on December 9 with Beetlejuice, has found her new humans and is going home today. Kayla had a short Periscope saying goodbye to her as she headed home to her great new life.

The cams and Livestream feeds

On Thursday, February 4, Shelly set up a new Livestream event for the Feral Recovery Room. This was so that she could set up a new cam on Noelle and Elf downstairs at TKHQ.

So we now have three live streaming webcams at TKHQ. The various room cams (currently the feral recovery room, the romper room, and NoElf’s room) get swapped around among the three feeds so at any given point, you really have to check the feed to see what room it’s showing:

All day today, NoElf have been on the romper room stream, the ferals have been on the feral recovery room stream, and the romper room kittens have been on VIP.

Feral Recovery Ward

Current residents:

ferals currently recuperating at TKHQ 2016-01-27 - Satine, Enara, and Tiger
  • Ever since the room cleaning the other day, Enara and frequently Tiger/Buffy have taken to hiding under the Kuranda tower with their worried faces on. Apart from the stress of the cleaning, I think Enara might be missing the crate that she used as her little hidey hole. (I think that was taken out of the room after the cleaning.)
  • The Visits:
    • Shelly stopped in quickly to drop off fresh food. Tiger/Buffy was really sneezy after she left.
    • Alicia visited. She played and snuggled with all of the cats. (See Little Darling’s video below in her section.)
    • Shelly stopped by to do a video shoot in the hopes of helping them to find their forever homes. She brought in the blue comfy chair, which she says is on its last legs. The cats didn’t really cooperate, being more interested in visiting with her than posing. 😉 She also gave Satine her eye drops.
    • Shelly stopped in late at night to put out fresh food and turn down the lights. She also gave Satine more eye drops.

Formerly-Feral Mega Romper Room

This is the room where Comet, Mistletoe, Jingle, and Nicholas are currently residing until they head to their forever homes. As it was today, it’s frequently the room that is viewable only on the VIP stream so there are no videos saved/uploaded from it today.

  • For much of the day, the stream was showing picture-in-picture, with the smaller inset showing the view of the catio. Thus there was a nice view of Shelly arriving at the house, saying hello to Mistletoe on the catio as she passed her by, and of Alicia arriving while Comet was in the Catio. Comet (and frequently Mistletoe and/or one of the others) seems fascinated by the sounds of people outside — he rushes to the catio whenever he hears the sounds of people near the house, not seemingly out of fear but out of curiousity. (Mistletoe usually then runs back inside if the people come close.)
  • The Visits:
    • Shelly stopped in quickly to drop off fresh food.
    • Alicia visited. She brought out the laser pointer. The kittens LOVED chasing the red dot. The hexbug could not lure them away.
    • Shelly stopped in late at night to put out fresh food and turn down the lights. She also turned on the heating pad and arranged the bin bed nicely with it. She closed the window because it’s getting cold. She checked Nicholas’ face, which looks better. She also checked Comet’s lump, which is still there. (Seems to be a swollen lymph node.) She checked his mouth and noticed that he has a painful-looking mouth ulcer — there’s nothing to be done about that, just let it resolve on its own. Shelly hopes she’ll have more time to hang out them tomorrow.

NoElf Room

This is the room downstairs where Noelle and Elf are currently residing, on their own while Noelle’s ringworm status is still positive.

  • The Visits:
    • Shelly stopped in quickly to drop off fresh food. She didn’t put iso gear on, not even gloves, since it was going to be a quick drive-by visit. But Elf was just too cute to resist and Shelly had to pet her.
    • Alicia visited. She had a really good play session with the girls and the rainbow snake and another wand/dancer toy. (See Little Darling’s video below in her section.)
    • Shelly stopped in quickly during the evening (just booties, no iso gear) to fix one of the cam angles and move the nest bin closer to the other cam.
    • Shelly stopped in late at night to put out fresh food, visit with the girls, rearrange the beds/cams, and turn down the lights. (She didn’t put on a bunny suit, but she did at least wear booties, gloves, and a lab coat.) Elf is so much more confident these days — she no longer runs away and hides when a human comes in the room; instead, she comes right up for pets.

Almost immediately after Shelly left (after so carefully setting up a nice cam view of the beds), Noelle and Elf took down the cam. (It was well after midnight and so was technically February 7, but I’m embedding here anyway.)
