In June 2018, several area rescue organizations (including Katie’s Place Animal Shelter, Surrey Community Cat Coalition, Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Organization (VOKRA), and TinyKittens) began working together to trap the cats and kittens at what is known as the Harvie Colony. The property where this colony — which was a mix of indoor, semi-feral, and feral cats — was located had been sold and was going to be developed so there was an urgency to the situation. VOKRA took in the friendly cats and TinyKittens took in the semi-feral, feral, and injured cats and kittens for treatment, socialization, and TLC until they could be adopted out or transferred to other rescues.

The Kinks

  • Went to their forever home together on August 18, 2018. (More information about the Kinks will be coming soon.)

Cats transferred to Katie’s Place

  • The black and white male tuxies temporarily known as A-06 Skunk  and A-05 were neutered by the Surrey Community Cat Coalition in 2016; Skunk had a cheek/jaw wound when he came in and A-05 had a gaping neck wound; once their wounds were repaired, they were transferred to Katie’s Place on June 23, 2018, where they are now (as of November 5, 2018) known as Miguel and Raoul and are currently up for adoption as a bonded pair(Added: April 9, 2019: Katie’s Place hasn’t updated their Facebook page in several months so I don’t know when this happened, but per the Petfinder page, both boys have been adopted sometime between November and April. Yay!)
  • The black and white tuxie female Barty clone temporarily known as A-03 Tinks aka Barti was spayed by the Surrey Community Cat Coalition in 2016 and was transferred to Katie’s Place on June 23, 2018. She doesn’t appear on their list of adoptable cats as of November 5, 2018, so presumably she was adopted.
  • The grey tabby male temporarily known as A-13 Ironside was neutered by the Surrey Community Cat Coalition in 2016 and was transferred to Katie’s Place on June 23, 2018. He doesn’t appear on their list of adoptable cats as of November 5, 2018, so presumably he was adopted.
  • The black and white tuxie male with the Eaton/Justin/Badger nose stripe, temporarily known as A-12, was neutered and given a dental (where nine teeth were extracted) on June 25, 2018; he was transferred to Katie’s Place on June 30, 2018, where he is (as of November 5, 2018) known as Harvie and is available for adoption. (Added: April 9, 2019: Katie’s Place hasn’t updated their Facebook page in several months so I don’t know when this happened, but per the Petfinder page, has been adopted sometime between November and April. Yay!)

Cats adopted into barn homes

  • The grey and white tuxie male cat temporarily known as A-04 was adopted into a barn home in July 2018.
  • Black and white male temporarily known as A-08 Scrapper was adopted into a barn home in July 2018.
  • Black and white female temporarily known as A-07 Molly aka Almond was  spayed by the Surrey Community Cat Coalition in 2016 and given a dental on June 26, 2018. She was adopted into a barn home with black and white male A-15 Nibben on August 12, 2018.
  • The black and white male temporarily known as A-09 Lincoln , black and white male temporarily known as A-10 Henry , grey male temporarily known as A-11 Toby, and floofy grey and white male temporarily known as A-14 Thor were neutered by the Surrey Community Cat Coalition in 2016; they hung out downstairs at TKHQ (mostly on the catio and catio walkway) for a few months before being adopted into the same barn home on August 16, 2018. (A female cat went with them — she had come in the previous day — but she doesn’t appear to have been added to the TinyKittens database.)

Cats transferred into foster care with unspecified group

These two cats were the last two Harvie cats left at TKHQ when they were finally transferred into foster care. (I don’t know which group — if any — that foster volunteers with.)

  • The black and white male temporarily known as A-01 as neutered on June 20, 2018,  and then transferred into foster care along with A-02 on August 26, 2018, as he is still quite fearful of humans.
  • Black and white tuxie female temporarily known as A-02 was spayed on June 20, 2018,  and then transferred into foster care along with A-01 on August 26, 2018, as she is still quite fearful of humans.
