February Feral Fix-a-thon

  • Gwen checked in on everyone in the morning and had a bit of cuddle time with Wee while giving him his meds.
  • Kimsies came by later in the morning and refilled water dishes. She also took Elwood and Cato back to the Happy Forest. (The Nano Colony cats aren’t on cam so I don’t know if any of them have gone back yet.)
  • Shelly came by with someone else briefly at around noon. She then came back by herself to give an update in the Lion Colony room and to check up on the three cats left in the other upstairs room.

    • Five of the boys from the Nano Colony (Emory, Floyd , Marcel, Marlowe, and Mikey) and two of the boys from the Happy Forest (Cato and Elwood) are on their way back to their colonies. Kimsies posted some pictures and videos from their releases.
    • All of the Lion Colony cats are staying for now (the girls at least until they’ve recovered from their spays). Wee is definitely staying and the other boys seem quite playful, if a bit human-shy, so I’d expect additional socialization attempts with them.
    • Quinn had 3 teeth extracted. Rusty is still here because he had extensive dental surgery yesterday, with 12 teeth removed. He’ll be here for a couple of days at least. Macey hasn’t been spayed yet so she’s still here.
    • Shelly said the “nine Nano Colony girls” are still downstairs, but I only count eight (Addison, Aviva, Chomper, Esmerelda, Mali, Marcella, Merrit, and Nala) in the fix-a-thon list. (Old fella Racer had dental surgery yesterday, which would require additional recovery time, so perhaps he’s mistakenly being lumped in with the girls.) She also mentioned that TK will have six Surrey girls downstairs as well, but there were only three (Ewos – A1, Narayan – K1, and Willow – A1) on the fix-a-thon list. (I know that the Surrey Community Cat Coalition has recently trapped and spayed/neutered a number of stray and feral cats so perhaps Shelly offered to keep additional recently spayed females at TK while they recovered.)
  • When she came back from releasing the boys, Kimsies came in to visit with Macey.
  • Shelly visited with the Lion Colony cats in the late evening and gave a short update on everything else while she was there.
    • Highlights of the visit: She had some good cuddle (and purr) time with Wee Pumpkin while she gave him his eye and ear meds — he has a bloated worm belly and his ears are still red and irritated. She took some pictures of Middle Pumpkin and Floofermelon being cute behind the tarp. She then decided to take the tarp away completely — it was a very noisy process that sent all of the cats ricocheting around the room and up to the window and back around the room again for several minutes. (Unfortunately, it seems no one managed to record it.) She brought in more toys — a tunnel, a tent cube, and other things (all of which proved quite popular).
    • Updates: There are 19 cats currently at TKHQ: 5 in Lion Colony room, 3 in Happy Forest room, 9 in the Nano room, and 2 Surrey cats. (Surrey took back eight of their cats, leaving just one male and one female at TKHQ. They can’t be returned to where they were trapped and Surrey Community Cat Coalition is trying to find a place for them.) She mentioned that they are keeping Mali, maybe Nala (at least for awhile, because of her expansive dental work). The rest of the Nano Colony girls should all be ready to go back to their colony tomorrow.
  • Shelly posted some pictures on TinyTapeworms, of Wee Pumpkin’s ear mites:

The cams and Livestream feeds

Recently, Shelly has been switching cams and feeds around fairly randomly so I am just going to note what cams were viewable when. Generally there is a VIP stream and a public stream.

  • The VIP stream was on Macey, Quinn, and Rusty most of the day. At around 20:30, Shelly switch the feed over to the small feral recovery room downstairs.
  • The regular fix-a-thon stream showed the Lion Colony cats.
  • Nothing was streaming live on YouTube.

Calvin

Calvin is temporarily at Shelly’s.

Mason

Mason is at Shelly’s. He has the run of the house, though Shelly says he mostly hides under the couch.

LAPS:

The cams and Livestream feeds

LAPS is currently having some technical issues with their computer and their Internet/WiFi and so they’re generally unable to broadcast a full-time live stream at this time. Their current intermittent streams are:

  • A Day in the Life At LAPS: This is the main general event for LAPS. It’s the stream where intakes are usually streamed along with other shelter residents/rooms.

Cat

  • The LAPS Satellite Adoption Centre posted pictures of Cat, who is now there at the centre looking for his new forever home. (There are additional pictures of him in the comments.)
