LAPS:
Star Wars Litter
LAPS staff and volunteers have been very good about posting the videos of the various visits with Queen Amidala and the kittens to their Livestream page so if you miss any visit, you can almost always go to http://livestream.com/accounts/14083503/starwars to watch them later on. (Note: It’s not always easy to tell what day a video is from — Livestream uses relative time, i.e. “xx days ago”, for posts and Zulu Time, which is currently eight hours ahead of PST, for comments — but they are in reverse chronological order on the page.)
- Today’s visits/videos on Livestream (in chronological order, titles from actual posts):
- Luke, Leia, Obi Wan, Han Solo, and Chewy
- Morning Snuggle’s with Emily
- Kittens playing with Ana
- May the kittens be with you – Lneya sweeps the room for illicit catnip toys as mama can’t hold her nip and gets too rough 😉
- Bedtime snuggles with Emily
- Cute photo posted by LAPS of Luke and Leia with an R2-D2 toy.

Christmas Decoration Kittens
- Alicia had her nightly Periscope with the kittens. Glimmer weighs 640 grams (up from 625), Star weighs 377 grams (down from 382), Ribbon weighs 532 grams (up from 527), Tinsel weighs 644 grams (down from 647) and Bow weighs 724 grams (up from 701, and nearly double the size of his littlest sister, Star).
Beetlejuice
- Beetlejuice is back at LAPS today after having his damaged eyeball removed at Yorkson Creek Veterinary Hospital on Friday. (Yorkson Creek kept him over the weekend at no charge to LAPS.)

Butterscotch, Toffee, and Caramel
- Three eight-week-old barn kittens were brought in to LAPS by a young man — there are other kittens, but he could only catch these three. Note: The names chosen for this litter by Lneya are Butterscotch, Toffee, and Caramel, but I don’t know which name goes with which kitten yet so below they are just referred to as Kitten 1, Kitten 2, and Kitten 3. (Added later: I tried to update the naming based on the signs seen on the training room door on Jules’ December 26th Periscope, but I could only make out Butterscotch clearly, because of the length of the name.) The kittens were all given the usual intake exam, including being given Revolution and vaccines, having their ears cleaned out (kitten #3’s were particularly dirty), having their nails trimmed, and being blacklighted (after the intake exam, off cam).
- Kitten 1 (who I believe ended up being Caramel) is a ginger tabby and white female kitten, weighing 1.0 kg.
- Kitten 2 (who I believe ended up being Butterscotch) is a white male kitten with ginger ears and tail and dark spots on his head, weighing 1.3 kg.
- Kitten 3 (who I believe ended up being Toffee) is a tabby and white male kitten, weighing 802 grams. (Lneya says he feels skinny and believes that he is the same age as the other two, even though he’s smaller.)
- Kitten 1 (who I believe ended up being Caramel) is a ginger tabby and white female kitten, weighing 1.0 kg.
“A Christmas Story” Kittens
- During her intake of the three barn kittens today, Lneya mentioned that Ralphie and Farkus, who were brought in to LAPS from the feral colony on December 19, are at Mountain View. Dr. Henderson will be taking them home overnight with her (in spite of the ringworm) as they are both in bad shape and need syringe feeding, subQ fluids, and antibiotics. Dr. H says that Farkus in particular is not doing well.
Shiraz
- During her intake of the three barn kittens today as well, Lneya mentioned that Shiraz may be having some tail movement now. (Shiraz is scheduled for her spay tomorrow and her tail was due to be removed at the same time as it is essentially dead.)

TinyKittens HQ:
Cassidy
- There was an impromptu two-hour visit with Cassidy on the romper room Livestream feed earlier today. Shelly posted that video to that Livestream page, but I’ve also embedded it below.
TinyKittens in the Classroom
- Ms. Tyler’s class at Holly Elementary School in Delta posted a video from their “TinyKittens in the Classroom” lesson on joyfulness.

General Notes
- Shelly didn’t think she’d be able to get enough people to do the next ringworm baths until Wednesday, but that changed and so today was Bath Day with Gwen and Amanda, featuring guest appearances by Lorie.
Holly, Comet, Mistletoe, and Joy
- As noted above, today was ringworm bath day. Everyone survived.
- Lorie later visited with them. (The cam unfortunately reset before I could watch her visit, but I presume there was cuddling and playing and a good time had by all.)
- Shelly visited them in the late evening, spending over an hour and a half in there with them. Comet, Holly, and Mistletoe were crammed into the tiny carrier when Shelly arrived — I think the only reason Joy wasn’t in there, too, was because there was just no room left. Comet is doing great. She soaked Holly’s left front paw — an abcess appears to have opened up again on it. Holly wasn’t a fan of the medical attention, but she takes it really well for all the growling. After the cleaning, Holly decided to play in the clean litter box, rolling in it and pulling toys into it. Joy is still really congested. Mistletoe is due to have her sutures removed and the paw checked this week. Shelly decided not to re-bandage her paw overnight. (Mistletoe is a master of chewing it off.) She had a long cuddle/petting session with Mistletoe in her lap — Mistletoe is learning humans aren’t so scary after all. Before she left, Shelly put a lid on the nesting bin, at the request of chatters. She had also previously removed the clock — which I kind of miss. (My parents used to have clocks in every room and I find the ticking kind of soothing.)
Ringworm Romper Room with Jingle, Elf, Nicholas, and Noelle
- As noted above, today was ringworm bath day. The way things worked out, because the unbathed kittens were left in the room (which hadn’t been cleaned yet) while the others were either being bathed or drying off, Noelle was left on her own in the room for a few minutes. She had a lot to say about that, all of it tragic and sad.
She was eventually reunited with the other three after her bath so all was right in her world again.
- Lorie visited with the kittens after their baths.
- Shelly visited in the late evening. She did some blacklighting, gave the usual ringworm meds, and removed the ticking clock from this room as well.
Kimsies’ videos from the feral colony:
Kimsies was on feeding station duty today, and she uploaded a number of videos of her visit. In particular, she’s been working on socializing Renara, who has been showing signs that she might one day be ready for a life of luxury like Mr. T and Pinecone, and things are progressing nicely. Mr. T and Pinecone weren’t overnight converts, either.
