Recap: Friday, November 13, 2015

Val and Maks

  • Two male 8- or 9-week-old kittens were brought in to LAPS at around 4PM today. They were found yesterday in a dumpster outside of a business in Langley. One of the business’s employees jumped into the dumpster after hearing the sounds of the kittens and dug through until she found them. (A littermate had unfortunately already not made it.) They kept the kittens safe overnight and brought them into LAPS today.
  • The kittens have been named after “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancers Valentin and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Val is a tuxie and Maks is a grey tabby. They weigh around two pounds and have been bathed, had their ears cleaned and nails trimmed, been vaccinated and Revolutioned; and they did not fluoresce under blacklight so they are presumed ringworm-free.

  • Seanna posted some video and photos of Twiggy.

  • Foster Mom Jules posted an update on Shiraz. Unsurprisingly, it’s long and hard work taking care of a recuperating cat with mobility issues.

  • DiCaprio, the cat that Noor filmed yesterday at the LAP condos, has already been adopted.

Jewel Litter

  • Bigger kittens (fostered by Tanya Z):
    • Opal (black kitten with orange collar) and Gem (tuxie kitten with yellow collar) are being spayed on Thursday, November 19, and will be available for adoption after that.

    • Topaz (black kitten, collar colour unknown) and his brother Stone (black kitten, collar colour unknown) will be neutered on Monday and will be available for adoption after that. (Tanya’s post about Stone is unfortunately not embeddable here due to FB privs so I’ve screencapped it and added it below. You can see the original here.)

    • Don’t have an update yet on Diamond or Ruby (the other two tuxie/cow girls).
  • Smaller kittens (fostered by Janet W):
    • No update yet.

CallaLily Litter

  • Alicia did a short Periscope at the LAPS cat cottage after she brought the kittens in to LAPS this morning.
  • She also did a Periscope with Calla (and Miss Vicky) at around 20:50.
  • Linda B, the adoption coordinator at LAPS, took the kittens to the LAPS Satellite Adoption Centre in Abbotsford a bit later on. Treasure and Picasso were adopted (Linda B texted Alicia to tell her that she’d really love their new human), but the adoption of Captain fell through because the potential adopter adopted another kitten from another shelter/rescue. So Captain and Galaxy are still at the LAPS Satellite Adoption Centre and will stay there until they are adopted. Since space is at a bit of a premium there, they may end up in with Mick from the Rolling Stones litter.
  • Alicia will be visiting the LAPS Satellite Adoption Centre tomorrow to visit with the kittens. (LAPS is holding an adoption event there this weekend.) She’ll try to Periscope from there if she can.

  • Eep and Owl are back with Shelly at TKHQ. Their adoption has fallen through due to unexpectedly extreme allergies in the home. Adoption applications have been re-opened for the two of them as a pair. Their spay surgeries are scheduled for Friday.
  • Kimsies posted a little video of herself with Tip from last week. It’s very sweet.

  • Noor visited with Cassidy, Shelly, and the teens today.

  • Cassidy was also the question of the day on FreeKibble today.

Interestingly, Mr. Magoo (the cat companion of Natalie, who works at Mountain View and who looked after Cassidy when Shelly was away a few weeks ago), was the question for November 11.
