Recap: Saturday, August 22, 2015

  • Trouble and Austin went to their new forever home in Bellingham, WA, today.
  • A much-loved Mama cat and her three six-day-old kittens — two grey tabby and white boys and an all grey girl — were brought in by their owner after three other kittens in the litter died and she realized she couldn’t provide the support they all needed. (It’s unknown right now what medical issues, if any, the family might have.) Mama is 7 years old — she’d had previous litters and the owner had been planning to have her spayed when she got pregnant this time.
The family has been named after characters in the musical “Sugar“, which is based on the classic movie “Some Like it Hot” — mama has been newly renamed Spats or Spatzie (her original name was Spliff), the little grey girl is named Sweet Sue, the darker curlier tabby boy is Sugar Kane and the slightly lighter tabby boy is Osgood. They are being fostered by the same person who fostered the Wheelbarrow Kittens.

  • The 8th Annual LAPS Furry Tail Endings Gala will be on November 7, featuring a 1920s Great Catsby theme. LAPS/TinyKittens are going to try to Livestream the entire event for those of us unable to attend the event.

TinyKittens HQ:

  • Shelly got the bacterial culture results back for Thumper, Bluebell, and Flower. All three are infected with a strain of E. coli that has developed resistance to several antibiotics, but there is one that still works that is safe to use with small kittens (Clavamox). Dr. F has adjusted the dosage. They’ll do another test on Tuesday. The kittens are all gaining weight and their temperatures are normal. Flower still has some pus but the others are pus-free. They are being monitored.
  • Floor time for kittens!

  • Sarin is due to have her spay operation on Tuesday. Foster mom Linda B said on Saturday that Sarin is doing really good. She still needs some socializing but has come a long way in such a short time.
